Danny Federici passes on Danny and I were friends, and became friends as result of our musical interests. He was a great musician, and a wonderful guy! His accordion, Hammond organ and Farfisa contributions to my work were perfect. Of course, we met initially because of my friendship with Bruce and the E Street Band. We always shared a few laughs and an occasional serious chat. He played a major role in the making of my Escape Artist album (recorded in 1980), along side Roy Bittan, Steve Goulding, Andrew Bodner, Alan Freedman, GE Smith, Wia Lindo, Artie Funaro, Lou Reed and others. In recent years, living in the city, we spent a little more time together. Every blue moon he'd join me on stage with his accordion for a few songs. Like so many others I will miss him. HAPPY HOLIDAYS Dear friends and fans, I'm truly grateful for the life I have with my dear wife, Claire, our daughter and you, our friends. I'm very fortunate to have been able to perform and make music for more than 40 years now. I'm lucky to have my health, enthusiasm, perseverance, and to still be inspired by everyday life. Love to you all, and best wishes in 2008,

Last Night's James Brown Tribute Last Night's James Brown Tribute was an absolute gem, as The Black Rock Coalition rocked Joe's Pub to its very foundation! James Brown's birthday show was a big success. For me, studying the songs, and realizing the magnitude and remembering the message of James Brown was tremendous. Working in rehearsal, going over the material at home, and connecting with old friends was a joy. During my time off stage, I watched the players and singers - everyone was just great pouring out all their energy into every song. What a funky night! Thanks to Gene Williams, who gave the most time and effort in the preparation and direction of the evening. The Songs: PASS THE PEAS (Band) The Musicians: Don Babatunde, percussion

Panel on Race SXSW The Panel was TREMENDOUS!!! Garland Jeffreys got his dream to have a panel on Race at SXSW and it was a very special event. Alejandro Escovedo, Dave Marsh, Chuck D, Cyril Nevile and Garland Jeffreys. It was a moving, emotional, heartfelt and loving event. "We panelists told our "stories" and we all shined in a community way. It goes without saying we would love the world to be different and we're willing to work for it. Each and every person gave of themselves and their experience. I am moved to tears by the feelings that were shared."
